New Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) trials conducted by Dr. Nikki King-Chao and Frederick Chao with the support of Team Asia Corporation’s CocoKing resulted in the second batch of doctors affirming the immunity-boosting benefits of the local health product.
The first VCO trial for doctors conducted from April to May 2020 earned positive feedback from the physicians who participated in the informal study to protect frontliners and paved the way for a follow-up study.
The 2nd VCO trial was conducted from May 18 to June 5 involved volunteer participants who are working in high exposure situations to COVID 19, with 48% of participants definitely exposed to COVID-patients (while wearing PPE), and 38% were probably exposed (to patients who were either PUI/PUM).
Each participant was given 1 bottle VCO, 1 bottle Nasal Spray (VCO + menthol), and 1 bottle Throat Spray (VCO + menthol) and was requested to take them daily.
The VCO study involved 21 volunteers – Anesthesiologists, Pediatricians, Cardiologist, Orthopedic Surgeon, Medical Specialist, ENT, Urologist, Obygyne, Internal Medicine, Occupational Hazard, and Emergency Medicine physicians.
The trial participants were from the UST Hospital, National Center for Mental Health, San Juan Medical Center, The Medical City, Dr. Fabella Memorial Hospital, Makati Medical Center, Muntinlupa Medical Center, Manila Doctors Hospital, Alabang Medical Center, St. Lukes Hospital, UP – PGH, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Manila Medical Center, San Juan de Dios Hospital, Asian Hospital, and the Philippine Children’s Medical Center.
The doctors provided feedback on the VCO trial that indicated 57% of them had Decreased Allergic Symptoms and Improved Bowel Movement.
The other desired symptoms observed or experienced in the study were:
- Increased Energy
- Increased Alertness / More Focus
- Less Hyperacidity
- Better Sleep
- Reduced Hunger
- Decreased Appetite

The VCO trial for doctors conducted by the Chao couple is a complement to their #MaskforDoctors campaign. The study aims to convince physicians, nurses, and other frontliners, that VCO has definite health benefits as well as being a potent protection for their bodies against COVID and other viruses by increasing their immune system.
It also seeks to support the Department of Science and Technology-supported VCO trials for COVID-19 patients at the UP-PGH and Sta. Rosa Hospital.
